Postgraduate
To promote understanding of the role which nursing and midwifery has played in the development of health care and society, the Centre:
- seeks funding for scholarships and fellowships in the History of Nursing/Midwifery
- offers PhD and MPhil supervision in the History of Nursing/Midwifery
- is developing a Masters in the History of Nursing/Midwifery
- provides a supportive network for teachers of the History of Nursing/Midwifery
- promotes the inclusion of History of Nursing/Midwifery in undergraduate and diploma programmes

Postgraduate research
- PhD study
The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at the University of Manchester offers a local or distance learning PhD study programme in the history of nursing and midwifery
Funding
- Mona Grey Prize
Prize, worth £250, awarded for the best PhD proposal submitted in any given year
- Monica Baly Bursary
Funding to a maximum of £1,000 for projects on the history of nursing (and midwifery or health visiting, if the applicant is a member of the Royal College of Nursing)
Postgraduate taught
- Masters modules in the history of nursing and midwifery
Includes modules on 'Art and Science of Nursing/Midwifery' and 'Education and Professional Development in Nursing from c.1840 to the present day'
