Professional development

Through the Advanced Professional Health Studies programme, the school offers a range of stand alone modules, including the specialist glaucoma modules:

Specialist Glaucoma modules

The NICE (2009) guidelines on glaucoma recommend that the diagnosis, formulation of a management plan, monitoring and treatment of people with glaucoma should be made by health care professionals with a specialist qualification, relevant experience and ability to detect a change in clinical status.

The School is one of few institutions in the UK where such specialist qualifications can be obtained. We offer two part-time, online clinical modules which can be taken as stand alone modules or as part of the MSc in Advanced Nursing Studies. The units are appropriate for all health care professionals currently working with patients who have glaucoma or seeking to establish optometrist glaucoma services.
